Faye Carol Blues and Jazz Diva
Go to: Faye's SYR Radio Episode & MP3
Faye Carol is clearly the Bay Area’s most versatile and creative female vocal stylist.”
- Jazz Critic Lee Hildebrand.
Faye weaves the influences of jazz singers like Billie Holiday and Betty Carter and blues singers like Bessie Smith into her unique vocal tapestry. She is as comfortable belting out a gritty blues tune as she is in rendering the delicate phrasing of a jazz standard, or serving up a heaping plate of Rhythm and Blues.
Her band is equally confident and adept at interpreting her innovative ar-rangements, artfully honed in the style and tradition of African American Blues based music, which covers so much of American popular music: Blues, Rhythm and Blues, Jazz, and more.
AS AN ARTIST:
Faye’s illustrious career has been in the company of, and in artistic collaboration with, such artists as Marvin Gaye, Ray Charles, Albert King, Charles Brown, Bobby Hutcherson, Ben Vereen, Steve Turre, Billy Higgins, Pharaoh Sanders, Benny Green, John Handy, Gene Ammons, Eddie Cleanhead Vinson, Bluesman Johnny Hartsman, Smith Dobson, Martha Young, Vi Redd, Ed Kelly, Babatunde Lea, and many other formidable artists
